🎯 Core qualifications (typical)

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in health administration, public health, law, risk management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

• Experience: 5+ years in healthcare compliance, quality assurance, risk management, or similar; HCBS/HCS experience preferred.

• Skills: Strong analytical and investigative abilities; excellent written and verbal communication; project management; data analysis and reporting.

• Knowledge: Deep understanding of TAC/HHSC rules, HIPAA/privacy, abuse/neglect reporting, incident management, and internal controls.

• Background checks: Required per HHSC/employer policy.

🧠 Training, certifications, and ongoing development

• Compliance program management, incident investigation, corrective action processes.

• Privacy, data security, and HIPAA training; QA auditing methodologies.

• Optional certifications (e.g., CHC, CCEP, CQE) can be a plus.

🛡️ Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the organization’s compliance program and policies.

• Lead internal/external audits; track findings and ensure timely corrective actions.

• Oversee abuse/neglect reporting processes and regulatory liaison activities with HHSC.

• Conduct risk assessments; develop risk mitigation strategies; deliver staff training.

• Monitor and report on quality metrics; support accreditation/readiness efforts.

🧩 Collaboration & supervision

• Reports to: Executive Director/CEO; cross-collaborates with HR, Finance, Operations, Nursing, and Therapy.

• May supervise QA analysts, compliance coordinators, and privacy/hard-copy recordkeeping staff.

📋 Documentation & compliance

• Maintain compliance dashboards, audit trails, incident logs, and regulatory filings.

• Ensure policies and procedures are up to date and accessible; support policy training.
