🎯 Core qualifications (typical)

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in recreation, therapeutic recreation, special education, social work, or related field; or equivalent experience.

• Experience: Experience planning and executing group or individual activities for individuals with disabilities or HCBS populations.

• Background checks: Complete required fingerprint/background checks per policy.

• Skills: Strong planning, coordination, and communication skills; ability to adapt activities for accessibility and safety.

🧠 Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an annual activities calendar (recreational, social, educational).

• Plan and coordinate community outings, ensuring accessibility, consent, and safety.

• Facilitate internal programs (on-site activities, groups, clubs) and support resident participation.

• Build connections with community resources (senior centers, museums, parks, volunteer groups) to expand opportunities.

• Document resident engagement, progress toward goals, and participation outcomes.

• Collaborate with DSPs, nursing, case management, and family members to align activities with care plans.

🧩 Collaboration & compliance

• Coordinate with House Supervisors, the Medical Team, and therapists to integrate activities with overall care.

• Ensure activities respect resident rights, privacy, and cultural preferences.

• Maintain documentation per agency policy and regulatory requirements (HIPAA where applicable).
